Move Over Deer and Turkey Hunting, There is a New Sport in Town
By Bret Rueb
Predator Calling, is it the fastest growing sport in the Shooting and Hunting Industry?
As I sit down to write this article, I am reflecting back over the 30 years that I have been calling. Predator hunting and calling has come a long way.
I still remember the days when I was a wet behind the ears want-a-be hunter. The bounty for coyote ears, in our county was $2.00 each. I would look at the string of ears that dad had strung up on the wall of the garage, and think, wow that is a lot of money. Then as I grew older and was able to drive and hunt myself, I was introduced to predator calling. At that time, in the late seventies and early eighties, fur prices were quite high.

A Good Day in the Woods
By Clay Fuhrhop
Have you ever got ready to go hunting and could not decide where to hunt? The wind is the wrong direction; the stands you can hunt have been dead. You have very little confidence in any stand that would work under these conditions.
Sometimes you must use rule #1 “no bucks will be shot unless you are hunting”. November 26, 2007 was one of these days

Puppy Training an Antler Dog
By Roger & S.R. Sigler
Training a puppy for any hunting sport is very much the same. The most important task is to select the puppy or dog that is best suited for the hunting sport in which you wish to participate. Naturally, if you are a bird hunter, a German Shorthair, English Pointer or maybe a Brittany, would be the breeds you should be considering. Since we train our dogs to hunt antler sheds, we have found that the Labrador retriever is the breed of choice.

Angle on Archery
To Have Good Form or Not to Have Good Form?
By Jason Forck
One comment I have heard throughout my shooting career is as long as you shoot well you do not need good archery form. Find something that feels comfortable allowing you to shoot accurately and go with it. The real question is how accurate do you want to be and is your current archery form giving you the consistency you want day to day. While improving your form can increase your scores in competition it can also increase your Maximum Effective Range you can ethically take game.

MVP's Adventure with
Southern Flight Outfitters
By MVP Outdoors
The birth of Southern Flight was conceived in the mind of Brett Root Ericksen, a highly motivated young man from central Illinois. Brett grew up with duck hunting being part of his roots. This vision of a high end duck hunting experience took him halfway around the world to Argentina. To create a duck club and a hunting experience that jettisons you into the past as if you were hunting in the old market hunting days. Days when the sky would darken and the hunt was mainly judged by the nuances and the company you keep. With months of preparation and lots of help from friends and family, the day came for the maiden experience and MVP Outdoors was privileged enough to take part in that experience.

We Ought to Know Better Than to Get Lost
By Jason Forck
I have been hunting about fourteen years and during that time frame I have only been lost in the woods for considerable time twice. Sure I have been turned around more times but I have been able to quickly find something I can identify to get back on track. I would like to say it is my ability to plan ahead and be prepared for the worst that has prevented me from being lost more often but it is most likely the kind of woods I hunt or hike through. Most of the farms or state ground around where I live have many roads or trails going through or around them. Locating a road is only a matter of walking in one direction for a while or listening for other sounds such as a passing car to help locate myself in the woods.

A True Story!
When The Hunter Becomes The Hunted.
Article by Marc Anthony
One wouldn’t think of hunting whitetail deer as a dangerous hunt. Let’s face it, hunting bear, big cats and other aggressive animals would certainly fit that description. To hunt deer, heck, we just get a little doe pee, climb a stand and wait for a good shot, right? How dangerous can that be? If one had to guess which part of the hunt would be the most dangerous, you might think it would be climbing the deer stand. Oh, is that an understatement!

Throw Down Your Shovel and
Grab Your Bow:
Why February is the best
month to be a bowfisherman.
Article by Sam Wood
Being a diehard bowfisherman and an avid outdoorsman from Wisconsin, you might think that I view February as the worst month of the year. All the hunting seasons are closed, ice covers all the lakes, and frigid temperatures keep most people indoors reminiscing of past seasons or planning for the next. This is far from the truth for me. You see, February is one of the best bowfishing months in Wisconsin. You read it right; FEBRUARY IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST MONTHS IN WISCONSIN.
