2008 Bass Cat Invitational Tournament
(Tournament Results) By Cory Hart

Every year bass anglers from across the country come to fish the Bass Cat Invitational tournament on Lake Norfork in Mountain Home Arkansas in hopes of taking home that grand prize.  With gas prices sky rocketing and the recent floods the attendance was a little down. I have seen it when there has been over 700 teams and this year there was 566 teams which is still a great turn out and a lot of tough competition.

Future Hunter By Brian Sanders

I will never forget Jack's first time I took him duck hunting. I took Jack to Presley's Outdoors and got him his first set of camoflauge clothing as I did on my first hunting trip. He was so excited that night that he too couldn't sleep. So I tucked him in bed with me and finally after a few minutes the little guy was out.

We Ought to Know Better Than to Get Lost
By Jason Forck

I have been hunting about fourteen years and during that time frame I have only been lost in the woods for considerable time twice.  Sure I have been turned around more times but I have been able to quickly find something I can identify to get back on track.  I would like to say it is my ability to plan ahead and be prepared for the worst that has prevented me from being lost more often but it is most likely the kind of woods I hunt or hike through.  Most of the farms or state ground around where I live have many roads or trails going through or around them.  Locating a road is only a matter of walking in one direction for a while or listening for other sounds such as a passing car to help locate myself in the woods.

Handing Down the Tradition By Jason Forck
As most of the hunting seasons are coming to and end, I continue to look for new ways to keep in the outdoors even though the colder weather makes it less comfortable to bear. My family and I have still managed to enjoy the outdoors during this time period and for the past two years I have taken my family for hikes in the cold weather to look for deer antler sheds after the hunting seasons.

One of the Biggest Asian
Carp Caught In Central Illinois

On August 5, 2007 Matt & Dave Kirgan felt like they were on a ocean charter when they landed this magnificent 44lb 8 0z Asian Carp in the Peoria Lock N Dam area. It took roughly 40 minutes to get this huge fish in using 80lb test and a #7 treble hook. This huge fish is a testament to just how fast these fish are growing. As some see it as a major epidemic others are basking in the joy of reeling in a monster like this one. If you have a story to brag about we'd love to hear about it.

MVP Outdoors
Our premise is simple: everything good starts with a good foundation. MVP Outdoors markets therapy and recreation to the working individual as well as those on the corporate grind. The soul longs for the satisfaction of basic primitive instincts. The desire to be close to the earth, mixed with simplicity, relaxes the heart. In this fast-paced life, we are finding out that we need to work longer and harder just to maintain the lifestyles that we once had. Investments and stocks are not as stable as we would like, so people are investing in useable investments. These useable investments also have therapeutic values that satisfy the soul. The joy of owning property, the privilege of stewardship and the use of natural resources is a satisfaction that is much bigger than ourselves: it is life fulfilling. MVP brings these resources together to bring this fulfillment to the hearts and minds of outdoor enthusiasts. MVP Outdoors believes that this foundation helps us recognize the true MVP's of the outdoors industry along with the help of outdoor enthusiasts just like yourself. You can help us find our next MVP by making a nomination about a Person, Place or Product you feel is a most valued resource for our great outdoors.

outdoor world PRIMARY DEFENSE
   Because their great vision
is their primary defense, turkeys feel very secure where they can see well and far. They frequently feed in pastures and meadows, and gobblers love to strut their stuff out
in the open.
On rainy days, turkeys prefer these open areas as well as clearcuts and can be seen walking along woods roads. These are all prime areas to
look for fresh tracks, feathers, and other signs.
Use this to your scouting advantage. When driving in your hunting area always slow down and take a good, thorough look at openings. This is where binoculars come in handy.
When walking through your hunting area, approach openings carefully and check them out well before exposing yourself. This means taking a long look at the opening from cover and moving slowly even though you think you are
well hidden.
